Starting this week, we may feel the cathartic energy of Pluto gradually intensifying until its station on April 24. It will hover in place a good week before and after that date. Since Saturn will also station, on April 29, it is safe to say that we are entering a phase of deep healing. We will feel light again after the Taurus new moon of May 4 and be in the clear, renewed, as of May 6. However, between now and then, we may be on a cleansing journey (literal and/or metaphorical). When outer planets station retrograde or direct, their resonance is unfiltered and magnified.
Mercury will pass its shadow point (from its previous March 5-28 retrograde dance) on April 16, a trigger date for some of us, related to the issues we were dealing with around March 5 (reminder in my March 5 post). In addition, the full moon on April 19 is connected to the Lunar Eclipse of Jan 20. I advise to read the posts of Jan 16, 18, 20, to get a clear sense of the themes at play in the next few days and weeks.
What better way to celebrate a healing period than to share the powerful purifying and protective virtues of the Amethyst. In Indian astrology, this stone is associated with Saturn, so it is perfect timing to be working with its vibration in the next few weeks. In Western astrology, it resonates with Pisces (Neptune) and helps heal all patterns of dependence and lack of boundaries, main issues related to that archetype. Its Greek name Ametusthos means ‘not intoxicated’! It is the birthstone of those born in February and of Saint Valentine because it is regarded as the gem of love and faith. The ancients called it the ‘Gem of Fire’, because it is one of few crystals with a very high degree of spiritual vibration and embodies the essence of passion and purifying fire.
My mother Anne-Marie Cévaër, who has a natural affinity and an innate understanding of the spiritual powers of precious stones, published an article in the French publication Univers Spirale*. With their permission, her piece inspired my writing and I translated parts:
Amethyst, A Powerful Tool For Spiritual Growth. The Amethyst has always been associated with serenity, balance and temperance. It brings calm to nervous people, peace to angry ones, and strengthens the magic of LOVE. It carries within the power of wisdom and humility. This brilliant purple quartz helps us overcome our negative behaviors and more specifically, our patterns of dependency. It has always been used for its safeguarding virtue as a barrier against lower vibrations. Its very high frequency creates a protective field, a bubble of Light that shields from negative energy present in the environment. It prevents intoxication, appeases anger, releases frustration; it pacifies. As such, the Amethyst should be in all patient waiting rooms!
The Amethyst’s main role is to help us avoid all states of dependence. It transfers to us its elegant and soft energy that counters the pernicious effects of drugs of all kinds to which we may be mentally or physically addicted. It helps us connect with our HighSelf, inner guidance, to understand the root cause of our dis-eases and stand up against ego driven self-destructive behaviors. This semi-precious stone supports us greatly in taking ownership of our responsibility in shaping our reality. It is a traditional aid for meditative practices because it rules the crown and the third eye chakras and protects against psychic attacks. This gem facilitates our elevating our consciousness and staying clear minded in meditation and otherwise.
Many of us are familiar with the work of Dr. Emoto who scientifically proved that our thoughts can alter the vibration of water. Gems charge water as well, so we may put clean Amethyst crystals in a glass container with purified water for 24 hours and drink the calming precious potion before bed for more peaceful and deeper sleep. We may also drink our “Amethyst water” any time for its various physical, emotional, mental and spiritual healing properties.
The Amethyst helps us recognize that we are Spiritual Beings living a human experience and not the other way around. Today, more than ever, it is a powerful friend as we embrace a healthy lifestyle on our Conscious journey. It is a mighty ally for all therapists practicing their art with an “awakened heart” for the wellness of people seeking Healing. The Amethyst transmutes negative into positive. In that, I feel it resonates with Pluto as well, the ultimate and most powerful alchemist healer of the zodiac.
